we have a new GreenPixel.ro...

August 20th 2009 | opinion

We couldn't make it earlier because we simply couldn't find time ... being always busy with projects for our clients. And, as you can see below, it was neither a small nor an easy project.

a bit of our strategy and decisions...

Given the time when we started, for many years we've communicated GreenPixel in a quite impersonal and austere manner. We were just "GreenPixel" and this was it. Clients aside, few people knew much about who we are. Over time, the online environment has changed, becoming younger, more curious and more... personal. Now you can find out who we are.

Because a simple collection of images was never enough to reflect our work for clients, we decided that it's necessary to make that big effort transposing our portfolio on the web. Now you can find out what we did.

Next, we've asked ourselves about the visual approach. Because, after 10 years, nobody felt the need for an extensive change (re-branding, repositioning, etc.) for the website two sides were debating: one claiming to keep the old image as a confirmation, and the other militating (and winning due to more arguments) for a style shift, yet keeping GreenPixel's essence untouched.

from the throes of creation...

And we started working, at first 2-3 people, for the final 12. We had no idea about the limits of our work. The new site www.greenpixel.ro proved to be one of the most difficult sites done by our team:

  • we've searched tremendously through CDs after the archives kept in the last 10 years.
Obviously not all of them were in order. Luckily, we still have colleagues since that time able to validate what we've found: Let's see you reckoning precisely what were you doing 10 years ago and which is more, finding the right backup CD ;-)
  • we've browsed through sites' briefs.
Old emails from time immemorial, containing the needed information. Great luck with "docs" (GreenPixel's internal knowledgebase).
  • we've questioned our clients and asked for feedback.
Questionnaires, evaluations, etc.. It's been quite difficult, especially because part of the companies' people we worked with have left.
  • we've written content for ~ 300 pages.
There are still some mistakes for sure after the 3rd round of checkings, but in large things are fairly in place. 8 people have worked only for content, including news, presentations, workshops, seminars, awards and overall visibility in the profile media.
  • we've cut over 1,000 pictures.
Talking particularly about screenshots for the completed works, earlier versions of sites, logos, for sites that are no longer online, etc.. special thanks to Google Image Search, www.archive.org and Avandor CMS for its marvelous resize function:)
  • we've implemented the site's templates.
That was easier, but on the way we wanted to totally give up on IE6. Unfortunately, many of our clients still use it at work as internal IT policy: (
  • we've changed our mind several times on the layout.
4 designers have fully spoken their minds, because it is very difficult to see yourself and be objective. It's easier regarding the client.
  • we've transformed the meeting-room in a photo studio.
The hardest part was to convince Tascha to stand still.

And we'd been reading, testing, correcting until we've had enough of everything.

and this is the result ...

the largest interactive agency website we know: 40 sections, 385 large and small articles, lots of pictures, and great effort on the occasion of our anniversary. In addition, the anniversary game was not quite easy to achieve (another site, another content, another photo-shooting, and generally ... another fun).

We are pleased with the results, and in the launch evening we'll party for this site. We hope you'll also consider it interesting and worthy to be seen and who knows ... maybe educational here and there. So, enjoy!
